The X6 is here to complete the task it began. The sharply sloping roof of the original X6, which sacrifices some cargo capacity for style, was a novel styling direction for SUVs. Imagine it like an SUV X5 that goes to the gym. Its athletic antics go beyond appearances as well.

The X6 has plenty of scoot thanks to its powerful 375 horsepower turbocharged inline-six base engine. The 523-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 engine powering the M60i is designed to pound pavement at high speeds, meaning it runs hotter. All-wheel drive is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for both powertrains. Although it is reviewed separately, the 617-hp X6 M offers a far more aggressive experience. However, do not allow the X6’s emphasis on driving entertainment cloud the real issues at hand.

It spoils its passengers with a tastefully elegant interior that includes a sizable infotainment screen that functions as a cutting-edge command center. Other SUVs, like the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe and Porsche Cayenne Coupe, have lowered their rooflines as a result of the X6. This only serves to demonstrate that the shift to more streamlined SUVs was initiated by the X6.
